The long, strange tale of a Milwaukee man's falsified internet life as a professional baseball player seemingly came to an end this week in court when Montaous Walton pled guilty theft by false representation.

According to the Wisconsin Court System's open records, the 29-year-old plead guilty to Statute 943.20(1)(d) Theft-False Representation in an mount less than $2,500. It is a Class A misdemeanor that will result in deferred prosecution or sentence. A second charge of Theft-False Representation was dismissed but read in court.

The offense date was listed as Oct. 17, 2011.

An OnMilwaukee.com investigation in May, 2012 uncovered Walton's fake persona as a professional baseball prospect, which allowed him to fool legitimate baseball agents into advancing him money. Major League Baseball also investigated the matter, and Walton was eventually arrested on June 4, 2012.
