Prime Minister John Key visited the United Kingdom, Germany and Belgium from 2 to 8 June. The visit included three days in London, as well as time in Hamburg, Berlin, and Brussels, where Mr Key met with European Parliament representatives and NATO. Representing 27 member states and 500 million people, the EU is the world’s largest economic entity. The EU is a vitally important market for New Zealand, second only to Australia in importance as a market for New Zealand goods. Two-way trade is approximately NZ$12 billion annually.
The Working Holiday Scheme between New Zealand and Poland entered into force on 15 February 2009. The scheme allows up young people to holiday, and engage in part-time work and study in each others country for up to 12 months. More
