McCartney plays Miller Park on July 16

Today, Live Nation and the Milwaukee Brewers announced the date of the upcoming Paul McCartney concert at Miller Park.

As part of his 2013 Out There tour, the former Beatle will play the stadium on Tuesday, July 16 at 8 p.m.

The tour features never-before-seen production material from McCartney's career as a solo performer and with the Beatles and Wings.

Tickets range in price from $39.50 to $255 and go on sale Friday, April 19 at 10 a.m. at the Miller Park box office and online at Brewers.com/McCartney and livenation.com.

On Friday, we predicted the date to be July 16.

McCartney's long-time touring band includes keyboardist Paul "Wix" Wickens, guitarist Rusty Anderson, drummer Abe Laboriel Jr. and bassist/guitarist Brian Ray.

The Brewers said the Miller Park playing field with be protected during the concert with a system that uses Teraplast.

Jason Wright, senior vice president of booking for Live Nation, said at the Monday morning press conference that McCartney's County Stadium concert of 1993 was "an almost life-altering event" for some people.

"There's no doubt in my mind that this show on July 16 is going to be talked about in the exact same fashion for years to come," he said. "This is an experience not to be missed."

Brewers COO Rick Schlessinger said that the McCartney concert is just the latest in a long line of events at Miller Park that showcase the venue as a cultural ambassador for the city of Milwaukee.

"Since Miller Park opened in 2001, the Brewers have always tried to tap the potential of this great ballpark for non-baseball events," Schlesinger said, citing last August's record-breaking "Field of Honor" movie premier, Brewers mini-marathons and sleepovers on the field as well as concerts by George Strait, 'N Sync, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen and the upcoming Kenny Chesney show.

"Concerts are a big deal here. It shows our fans and the taxpayers that Miller Park is not just a baseball stadium. It is a multi-purpose use venue that is among – and I am biased – the greatest finest sports venues and entertainment venues in the country."
