1. Juneau Park Paddleboat owners trying to sell business
The hard-won contract extension for locally owned Juneau Park Paddleboats has been reversed, and an out-of-state company will take its place in Veterans Park. Why? Apparently, despite public support, the owners were trying to sell their business to the competition.
2. Festa Italiana announces full 2013 line-up
Festa Italiana announced its complete entertainment line-up today. The weekend-long celebration of Milwaukee's Italian heritage is slated for July 19-21.
3. Kramp Cast: Is the strength of my voice gone for good?
When I first started in Milwaukee radio I worked the overnight shift at Lazer 103. On the drive to my midnight gig, I would attempt to loosen up my voice by talking to myself in the car or even reading street signs out loud.
4. Kramp makes new friends
In this long-form version of the Kramp Cast, Brian Kramp debuts "The Grinder" and talks to comedian Dan St. Germain of Comedy Central.
5. Mr. Barrett, tear down this wall!
I love Milwaukee. As a kid living in rural communities, I couldn't wait to one day move to the big city. Summer festivals, Brewers games and Lake Michigan seemed to call my name at an early age. After graduating from college, there was little doubt where I would end up starting a life. That being said, the realities of living in the big city drew a stark comparison to the expectations I had built up in my own mind.
6. Let's put the "front" back in Front Street
For a variety of reasons, I've been thinking about Front Street, which now seems so ironically named, fronting as it does onto nothing and serving as the ultimate definition of a Milwaukee "backstreet." In my mind, I see something much different that can be seen on the block today.
7. PETA's "Got zits?" billboard breaks out in Milwaukee
A new PETA billboard on West Lisbon Avenue shows a teen with a pimple-covered face, a milk mustache and the words, "Got zits? Studies Show: Milk and Cheese Trigger Acne. Ditch Dairy."
8. Reaction to Journal Sentinel's new editor shows liberal bias
The Journal Sentinel just hired someone named David Paulsen to be its new Breaking News Editor. Paulsen comes to the paper after stints as a reporter in Wausau and Poughkeepsie, N. Y. and two years at Fox News. Well, when the announcement was made the cries from staffers in the newsroom in Downtown Milwaukee could be heard throughout the civilized world.
9. The adventures of Milverine
Kudos to Allison Miller who, via Facebook, posted this awesome class project of Milwaukee "super hero" Milverine.
10. Warbler time
I worked in a Downtown office building for many years. Times would come - I never kept track of the time of year - when we would find beautiful little birds dead on the sidewalk every day for a few weeks. I always wondered what was happening, but kept forgetting to look it up. What were those birds?
11. Crest of the USS Milwaukee will be unveiled tomorrow
The crest of the USS Milwaukee will be unveiled tomorrow morning at Discovery World, 500 N. Harbor Dr., at 10 a.m.
12. Bike to Work Week 2013, May 13-18
Don't feel like you need to ditch your car. The overall goal is participation. Don't feel bad if you can't ride all seven days, but don't give up after only one. Take small steps towards enjoying riding a bike. If you find a problem, ask around for a solution; odds are someone has already figured it out. Bike to Work Week may not convert you to a spandex-loving gear head, but it might provide you with a new, fun weekly goal.
13. Sedaris coming back to The Pabst Theater in November
David Sedaris is coming back to Milwaukee. The literary funnyman will be appearing in "An Evening With David Sedaris" on Nov. 1 at the Pabst Theater.
14. The internet never forgets
You would think we know this by now, but sometimes the lesson is hard learned over and over again - whatever you put on the internet, stays on the internet, and someone will find it.
15. Thoughts on the sudden death of a friend
Last night at about 3 a.m., I woke up to go to the bathroom. I used my phone to light my way, so as soon as my eyes adjusted, I noticed that my mom had sent me a death notice. My friend and neurosurgeon, Dr. Spencer Block - the guy who did my back surgery in 2011 - had died yesterday at age 51.

16. Reagan students to host visual arts showcase tonight
This evening, the public will have a unique opportunity to view the work of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Visual Art students at MPS' Ronald Reagan College Preparatory High School.
17. Milwaukee is 7th most exciting city in the nation? Some not so sure
Some people weren't exactly sure why Milwaukee ranked so high although they'll take the compliment.
18. Milwaukee named seventh most exciting city in America
We all know that Milwaukee is an exciting and ever changing city. So we're not surprised that the folks at real estate blog Movoto have named our fair city No. 7 on their list of "10 Most Exciting Cities in America."
19. Another shooting creates more questions
Another shock when a 4-year-old boy was shot while playing in front of his home near 40th and Chambers Tuesday night. But what was he doing outside?
20. Delta Center seeks new sponsor and new name
Currently known as the Delta Center, the Wisconsin Center District is looking for a new sponsor - and a new name.
21. Beetlemania: win a VW at the McCartney show

22. Braun, restaurant group and Froedtert form new charity fund
The Froedtert Hospital Foundation is teaming with SURG Restaurant Group and Brewers' leftfielder Ryan Braun to launch a new fund created to help Milwaukee children in crisis.
23. The creepiest smiley face
The smiley face. It's a universal symbol of happiness. At least it should be. But when you find one spray painted along Milwaukee's Riverwalk, it's meaning changes.
24. Urban spelunking: A Sebastian Brand firehouse
Who doesn't love an old firehouse? Like you, I once thought it would be cool to live in an old one. You know, big open-concept place with high ceilings, history inscribed in every detail. Plus, you could slide down the brass pole to get to breakfast quickly. The decommissioned Milwaukee Fire Department Fire House, Ladder Company No. 5, at 1945 N. Bartlett Ave., is one of those old places I've long suspected was ripe for such a conversion.
25. He can't win: Walker's missing presidential credentials
Scott Walker has done a good job transforming Wisconsin into a place where businesses want to immigrate, expand and succeed. If you consider the 18 months of turmoil that started his term, it's an accomplishment to have gotten anything done. Despite all of his positive actions, I cannot recommend that Scott Walker run for president. He can't win. He won't win.
