At the end of a 2007 performance, Bloc Party vowed that it would return to Milwaukee. On Wednesday night at The Pabst, the British band delivered on that promise but also came off a little too rehearsed at times.

If one were to imagine a location for a once-in-a-lifetime chance to see a legendary Italian progressive rock band in an extremely intimate setting, I doubt that Superior Street in Bay View would make the list. But Friday night brings the Italian Progressive Rock band Il Castello di Atlante to that very venue.

With a return by Paul McCartney on tap this summer at Miller Park, the arrival of "Rockshow," is well-timed. The film, which screens at the Bayshore iPic at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 16, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, was filmed on the same 1975-76 U.S. tour that led to Paul McCartney & Wings' triple-live album, "Wings Over America."

I would imagine that it's a pretty rare thing to be able to bring down a house 43 years after your death. But for Janis Joplin, it's no big deal. She definitely brought down the house, rafters and all, at the Quadracci Powerhouse last night. The Milwaukee premier of "One Night With Janis Joplin" was not only a dynamic concert experience but a compelling theatrical production as well. If you're a Janis fan or just a lover of music in general, you need to see this show.

Kelly Hogan is one of the busiest working musicians around and on Sunday night, she reminded the Pabst Pub audience of why she is so in-demand with a marvelous performance that showcased all of her talents.
