I wouldn't be so sure about that, HeySuburbia . I work at another establishment in the vicinity and have heard plenty of "I'll never step foot in the place" from locals. Some in apparent homage to Shephards, others because their standard gin and tonic now costs $5 when it used to be $4. Then there are others who talk about how the theme, menu and prices will never work there... a few seconds later they admit they haven't even gone there to try it. So, from my point of view, there is some blind-dislike being dished by locals. I'm sure it's a small group, all things considered. But it's definitely out there.

One thing is that the outside does not invite people to come in. It is too closed off. Too much wall and not enough door and window.

AndrewJ, I doubt people are "protesting" the fact that Shepherds is gone, the fact of the matter is that Sherbrooke just wasn't that great. If they want people to go there the name or menu isn't gonna do anything, all they need to do is add some more windows (which it sounds like they're already in the process of), and finally finish remodeling and open up that second bar area. Every time I was at Sherbrooke there would be people at the small bar area and then pretty much no one at the tables, which with the main portion of the bar area blocked off for remodeling take up pretty much the entire place. The reason I hated Shepherds was that it was always so dark in there and it just felt like I was hanging out in a basement, and Sherbrooke, although it was a little nicer on the inside, wasn't much different.

So are they keeping the same menu? I sure hope so... loved everything I ever had at Sherbrooke. I also hope this isn't a last ditch effort by ownership to get a regular crowd before having to bail. Whenever I go in there it's pretty slow, which is both unfortunate and confusing. Only thing I can think of is the immediate area locals are protesting because their dive bar is gone. They should give it up, because Sherbrooke is great.

This location is a big step up from Shepherd's...glad to see them in my backyard. I only wish they'd put up a can/container for cigarette butts.... Bel Aire should do the same...there are cig butts all over the sidewalk every morning.
