Emirates Finalises 777X Deal
EMIRATES AIRLINE has signed a firm order for 150 Boeing 777Xs valued at $56 billion at current list prices.
Richard Benedikz - 13-Aug-2014
The carrier, already the world’s largest operator of the type, originally announced its intentions to purchase the latest members of the 777 family at the 2013 Dubai Airshow. The deal, a combination of 115 777-9Xs and 35 777-8Xs, also includes purchase rights for an additional 50 aircraft and, if exercised, could increase the value of the total purchase to nearly $75 billion.
“With the order for 150 777Xs, Emirates now has 208 Boeing 777s pending delivery, creating and securing jobs across the supply chain,” commented Emirates’ president Sir Tim Clark. “Today Emirates flies more than one in every ten 777s built. The 777X will offer us operational flexibility in terms of range, more passenger capacity and fuel efficiency, and we look forward to inducting them into our fleet from 2020.”
The 777X will introduce the latest technologies into the aircraft including the most advanced commercial engine ever produced – the GE Aviation GE9X – and an all-new high efficiency composite wing with a longer span than today’s variants. Design of the 777X is under way and production is set to begin in 2017 with deliveries to customers targeted for 2020. To date, the 777X has accumulated 300 orders and commitments from six customers worldwide. (Boeing)

This is great news for Boeing and its well proven 777 Model. As Airbus has only just announced its decision to revise its top selling Big Twin the A-330 with a N.E.O. and launched at Farnborough with an Order Book for some 133 Aircraft I await with anticipation similar orders for Airbus.
( Note that these Orders are not for the All New A-350 or 787 Aircraft ?? )
Happy Flying.
