Germany’s biggest derby has arrived! Schalke and Dortmund meet this weekend in a match that puts local pride at stake. However, it’s not just about bragging rights; the game could have huge ramifications for both teams. Defeat for Schalke would make it almost impossible for them to finish third and qualify automatically for the Champions League.

As for Dortmund, their title bid will surely be over once and for all if they lose against their local rivals. Kick off! can’t wait to see who comes out on top.

Topics

Schalke - Dortmund

The gap between these two sides in the table is vast. Dortmund are currently 23 points ahead of the Royal Blues, enough to already guarantee that they will finish ahead of their rivals. However, when the players are out on the pitch, none of that matters.

Schalke have the chance to take revenge for their defeat earlier this season, and sabotage Dortmund’s title challenge in the process. Meanwhile, victory for Dortmund would confirm their status as Kings of the Ruhr Valley. Are you ready?

Stuttgart - FC Bayern

There’s something oddly understated about Bayern at the moment. The league leaders have won their last three matches in all competitions by a 1-0 scoreline. That’s not bad, but it’s also not the destructive force we have become used to with Bayern.

Still, with just five games remaining after this weekend, a win against Stuttgart could put the Bavarians out of arm’s reach at the top. Another 1-0 win would do just fine.

Frankfurt - Hoffenheim

After round 19, Frankfurt were in 13th place, and looked comfortable compared to the relegation chaos going on beneath them. Hoffenheim, on the other hand, looked like they were on a one-way-street to the Second Division.

Since then, though, Frankfurt have won just once, and dropped into a direct relegation spot, while Hoffenheim have climbed up to 14th. Their clash this weekend is a relegation six-pointer, so who will hold their nerve?

Bremen - Augsburg

Bremen are used to relegation worries, but Augsburg’s own problems have surprised many experts. The team finished in 5th place last season, qualifying for the Europa League, but this season things havn’t gone to plan in the same way.

A run of one win in 11 games has seen them fall to 16th, with their opponents this weekend a single point ahead of them. The relegation battle is in full swing, and Kick off! has all the action.
