Ten tips for beautiful hair

Glossy and healthy hair – that’s what most of us want. There are many different types of hair, but when it comes to hair care, a few changes can make all the difference. Ten tips for glossy locks.

    A good foundation

    A healthy scalp is the foundation for healthy hair. Ignoring the health of your scalp can lead to problems such as dry skin, itchiness or dandruff. Scalp massage promotes circulation and stimulates the sebaceous glands, which can improve the texture of dry hair. In some cases, scalp health can benefit from moisturizing lotions or prescription tinctures.

    Proper washing

    Before washing your hair, it’s a good idea to brush it. That cleans the hair, so then you’ll need less shampoo. Rinsing hair thoroughly is especially important. Make sure the water isn’t too hot, though, because that can damage hair. At the end, a rinse with cold water mixed with a small amount of lemon juice or vinegar can make your hair glossy and healthy.

    Proper conditioning

    After washing your hair, it’s a good idea to use conditioner. Conditioner forms a thin film that protects each strand of hair. That helps make your hair smoother and glossier, and easier to comb. After using conditioner, carefully comb your wet hair with a wide-toothed comb.

    Wet hair should never be toweled dry, because the friction can damage the hair’s cuticle. The same goes for wrapping your hair in a towel – wet hair stretches and breaks more easily. A hot hair dryer also promotes hair damage. Instead let your hair dry naturally, or use a lukewarm dryer or one with an infrared sensor. And make sure your hair dryer has several heat settings.

    Deep conditioning

    Pamper your hair every so often with a deep conditioner. They’re available for all hair types, but you can also make your own. Plant oil is good for dry, brittle hair. Or make your own avocado conditioner by combining one avocado with two tablespoons of sunflower oil and a dash of lemon juice, and mash until smooth. Apply to hair and rinse after 15 minutes.

    Split ends are an annoyance, especially in long hair. Frequent hair coloring, sun, dry air and especially hot hair dryers can all contribute to split ends, making hair look dull and brittle. One way to avoid split ends is to apply a nourishing treatment to the tips of your hair. When it comes to split ends, silicone treatments are also an option.
