Who is WiliQueen? ~ Collage of Valerie photos

I am sister to the falling rain
Daughter of the wind
But fate has placed my feet on earth
So here I will begin
I would dance along the rainbow
Spin silver light from sound
But first I have to master solid ground

In some ways, that says it all. But in others, I realize it doesn't tell you much at all. So...

My real name is Valerie Lynn Elizabeth Meachum Kessler. I'm also variously known as Tigger, The Bad Penny, The Prima Ballerina of the Father Time Boogie, the NatPack Head Cheerleader, the Slayer Manqué...well, actually, I'll answer to just about anything that isn't obscene. :-) (For an explanation of my WiliQueen nickname, see What the Heck is a Wili?.) Labels that apply to me about as well as you can expect from off-the-rack: Generation X, German-Welsh-Irish-English-American, feminist, sci-fi/fantasy fan, cybergeek, soprano, pagan, brain, PerkyGoth (with a capital Perky), redhead-by-choice, cheerleader-in-recovery, skinny chick.......

I was born in Wyandotte, Michigan on November 6, 1969, and grew up an Air Force brat with 15 different addresses by the time I was 12. Currently I live in Hilliard, Ohio (suburb of Columbus), where I'm married to a wonderful man named Jack and owned by a yellow tabby purring machine named Diablo. Since I spent my teen years in Colorado, I sometimes miss my mountains, and wish I had more opportunity to go visit my family there--especially since my folks moved up to Conifer and acquired a back yard with 50-foot Ponderosa pines and a knockout view!

I'm a storyteller by nature, which accounts for my profession as actress, director, costume designer and general theatre person. It also goes a long way toward explaining most of my interests, which include writing, myths and legends, languages (I'm competent in French and American Sign Language, and have a basic knowledge of Italian and a nodding acquaintance with Welsh and Romany), Deaf culture, Pre-Raphaelite art, doll collecting and crafting, all things Celtic, and sci-fi/fantasy fandom.
