Sony Music Application Form
How
do I apply to work at Sony Music?
If you are interested in working for us, you should read the notes
below to help you decide if you have what it takes to work at Sony
Music. If you decide you do, please complete our Application Form
that can be downloaded or completed on-line from the bottom of this
page. Please do not send us your CV as the completed application
form will contain all the information we require.
What
happens then?
We do take time to read all the applications we receive. However,
we receive around 100 applications a week, so it may be a while
before you receive an acknowledgement letter. If your application
looks promising, we will keep it on file and contact you if a vacancy
arises that suits your experience and interests.
What
are you looking for in applicants?
To work in one of the Label functions (Marketing, Promotions, Press,
A&R) you firstly need to have a genuine passion for music. Music
will be an important part of your life, and you'll spend much of
your time in record shops, going to gigs and reading the music press.
However, you'll also need to demonstrate that you have been actively
involved in music. For example, you may be a DJ or a member of the
University Ents. Committee; you may promote bands / clubs in your
spare time, or even better, you'll already have worked in the music
industry. If this doesn't sound like you, then you should think
twice about applying to us for a Label position as it is unlikely
that your application will be successful.
To
work in one of the Support functions (Sales, Finance, Legal, IT,
Secretarial, Human Resources etc.) you'll need to have relevant
experience / qualifications in the area you are applying for. Whilst
prior experience within the music or media industry is an advantage,
it is not essential. However, we would expect you to have a strong
interest in music and to have researched the industry and the key
players within it.
Do
you have a Graduate Training Scheme?
Yes we do. The 2001 scheme is open to undergraduates in their
final year, and there is a separate application procedure for this.
