Rico grew out of work within Sabre Airline Solutions. As part of a large effort to found a User Experience Team and common core technologies, a large suite of components were built over the last several years to simplify web development. In early May, 2005, Bill & Darren attended and presented some of these components (providing the foundation for an early version of Rico) at the Adaptive Path/O'Reilly Ajax Summit.
