System requirements
To use Internet Explorer 5.1.7 for Mac OS 8.1 to 9.x, your computer
must meet the following minimum requirements:
Processor: Macintosh PowerPC.
Operating system: Mac OS 8.1 to 9.x.
Memory: 16 MB of RAM. We also recommend that you turn on Virtual Memory
by using the Memory control panel.
Hard disk: 12 MB of available hard disk space.
Programs: Apple QuickTime version 3.0 or later.
Modem: 9600 bits per second (BPS) modem (28.8 Kbps or higher
recommended).
Network components: Open Transport 1.3 or later; for dial-up connections,
Open Transport Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) software or similar PPP connection
software, including a control panel and an extension.
Tip If you're not sure
whether your computer meets these requirements, click Apple System Profiler
on the Apple menu. The System Profile tab displays information
about your computer.
To use all of the features available in Internet Explorer, we recommend that
you also have access to the Internet through either an Internet service provider
(ISP) or a network. Internet access might require a fee to an ISP; local or
long-distance telephone charges might also apply.
Installation instructions
Before you install this download:
- Quit any other programs that are running, including virus-protection
programs, because they might interfere with installation.
- Make sure Allume
Systems StuffIt Expander
version 5.5 or later is installed on your computer. If an earlier version of
StuffIt Expander is installed on your computer, you might not be able to
install this download.
To install this download:
- Print this page if you want to use it as a reference when you are offline.
- Make sure your computer meets the minimum system requirements for this
download.
- In the table above, click the language version and file format you want.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to save the file to your hard disk.
If you are using Internet Explorer, the Download Manager saves the file to
the desktop unless you specified a different download folder in the Preferences
dialog box (Download Options panel).
- On your hard disk, double-click the file that you downloaded in step 4
to expand it.
Depending on the Web browser that you are currently using, this step might
be performed for you automatically.
- Double-click the Internet Explorer 5.1.7.smi file to start the setup
program.
- On the desktop, double-click the Internet Explorer 5.1.7 file.
- Drag the Internet Explorer 5.1 folder from the Internet Explorer 5.1.7
window to a location on your hard disk.
To remove this download:
Internet Explorer 5.1.7 for Mac OS 8.1 to 9.x does not include an
uninstall feature.
