BEHIND the MASK is an independent non profit trust supported by Hivos, Astraea Foundation, NiZA and Atlantic Philanthropies and by the 'Friends of Behind the Mask', which was launched in the last quarter of 2002.

Behind the Mask works closely together with African gay and lesbian organisations like the Gays and Lesbians of Zimbabwe (GALZ), The Rainbow Project (TRP, Namibia),  Galebitra (Kenya) and many others. Behind the Mask is also in close contact with the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission (IGLHRC) and other (gay and lesbian) human rights structures and organisations.
