homosexuality and its apostles

March 10, 2006: Bob Dylan had a popular song tune a couple of decades ago titled: Times are a changing.

Times are really changing as the old order of correctness gives way to aberrant permissiveness. And the burgeoning of aberrant conduct is not without its passionate apostles of rationalisation. The Day of the Bleeding Heart Liberals is here.

In recent times, apostles of this permissiveness have been most strident in rationalizing and glamourising sexual perversion, alias homosexuality and lesbianism. They come in the garb of human rights advocates. They argue, rather cheekily, that for as long as that is the sexual preference of the perverts, it amounts to religious and cultural bigotry to frown at or condemn such conduct. Now, following on gay and lesbian parade, apostles of homosexuality are also boldly coming out of the closet.

Recently, an academic provided intellectual fire-power for the cause of homosexuals and lesbians in defense of their sexual preference. Douglas Anele, identified as a philosophy teacher at the University of Lagos  in an article in the Daily Sun of Feb. 10, 2005 titled: "Homosexuality and its enemies” and another back page follow-up in the same paper on Feb. 20. 2006 titled "Still on homosexuals and its enemies” went into a treatise on why those who condemn same sex partners should be seen as intolerant people. Anele, apparently a weeping apologist for homosexuals and lesbians, chided the rest of us for being unnecessarily uppity and prudish about the sexual choice of others.

“It is extremely unhelpful to treat homosexuals and lesbians as outcasts or subhuman simply because their sexual preference differ from the ones people are used to,” he declared. He contended that “critics of homosexuality have failed to demonstrate that it is right to reject the act because it conflicts with African culture”. Anele shot a dart at the Federal Government, "Government has no right to legislate sexual preferences of citizens. People should be allowed to exercise their sexual freedom”, he asserted.

Some freedom, indeed. So, maybe in furtherance of his doctrine of sexual laissez faire, Anele will someday make a case for tolerance of a son sleeping with the mother as his sexual preference !  But as is common in tenuous and egregious arguments, the academic ran into one major pitfall of critical writing — that of contradiction. He had gone into intellectual rigmarole on the fertilization process : about embryogenesis, hormone estrogen and sex chromosomes in the early development of sex organs. According to him, the combination of chromosomes and hormonal factors in sex determination can go awry” and that  "homosexuality and lesbianism could be the result of biochemical imbalance in the individual”. We have to ask the Don:
How can the consequent aberrant sexual disposition of such sexually unbalanced individual be regarded as normal ? A contradiction.

The  Sodomites are getting even more brazen and are demanding the right to adopt children, the product of heterosexual marriages which they repudiate. Imagine an impressionable child being brought up by two homos and the poor boy being socialized into regarding a man as mom!. As the child grows into a teenager, he is at risk of being a sex object of the “father”. Such prospect does not bother the Aneles of this world.

They can rationalize anything. One of the sad fallouts of globalisation is the importation of all kinds of crazy fads from the West. In Africa, we lap up these ideas - the lapdogs that many of us are ! Of course, the West often add a sweetener, an inducement to the advocates of its ideas through NGO funding and those all expenses paid trips to attend esoteric conferences. Interestingly, as indicated earlier, the open flaunting of homosexuality and lesbianism is most prevalent in predominantly Christian countries — with the Church as cheerleader in some countries — and these are the people who came to Africa as civilizing agents. Praise the Lord !.

The urgent task now is to put up the barricades against this invading army of cultural and moral renegades before they overwhelm us. It is not  far-fetched that we may soon have homo warlords on our hands, violently resisting their perceived “marginalisation” — that magic word by dissidents and deviants — and demanding restitution from the larger society !. Apostles of homosexuality say it is a measure of society’s changing dynamics.
