Derek does a draw
Charlton's record goalscorer Derek 'Killer' Hales believes that Saturday's game at the Ricoh Arena against Iain Dowie's Coventry City will be another difficult match for the Addicks - but is predicting an extension of the club's fine recent league form.
Fresh from forecasting the correct score after 90 minutes against Luton Town in midweek, Killer is placing his £25 charity bet in aid of Demelza Care for Children, courtesy of the club's official online betting partner Paddy Power, on a 1-1 draw, priced 5/1.
"Coventry are going to be cock-a-hoop after beating Manchester United at Old Trafford," said Derek. "So I'm going to have to go with another 1-1 draw.
"Iain Dowie's doing an all right job up there, and he's done it before at this level with Crystal Palace," continued the Addicks legend.
"We've stopped letting a lot of goals in now, and getting a point up there after they've beaten Manchester United would be a good result for us.
"We're doing all right now, and to be fair there were a few people rested on Tuesday night so I'm not worried about the Luton result really."
The communications department is still searching for a winner, but have come up with a surefire way of getting off the mark. Rather than go for a result, the department is placing the bet on the first goal being scored between the 31st and 40th minute, priced 6/1.
