Killing of homosexuals – not only the lesbians but gay men as well – tends to abound in South Africa recently, and this gives the country a murky reputation. It seems that since 2005 gay people, mostly lesbians, are being murdered each year not as any other ordinary homicide but for their different sexual orientation.

With the wake of xenophobic attacks and violence in South Africa, the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) leaders in this country are worried, and vociferously voiced out that they greatly despise the violence – which is based merely on hate.

February 21, 2008: I sturdily denounce the way homosexuals are still being tormented in Africa – and I rather not give a toss about other continents because of their progressiveness in this regard, but I’m concerned about Africa as it seems to be rooted in total ignorance of human rights generally.

December 14 – 21, 2007: This December, the future of the Republic of South Africa will be known after the Polokwane ANC’s 52nd national conference where leadership would be elected.
The gay community and individuals have pledged their vote at the conference as in terms of their preference and rights.
