Audrey Hepburn

Audrey Hepburn (Edda Kathleen van Heemstra Hepburn-Ruston) was born in 1929 in Brussels, Belgium. Her father was a wealthy English banker, and her mother, a Dutch baroness.

After various trips between London and The Netherlands (part of that time in The Netherlands was spent during the 2nd World War when she suffered depression and malnutrition), she studied ballet, became a model and then was spotted by a producer. That was the start of a successful filming career.

Her first big film was Roman Holiday (1953)for which she won an Oscar as Best Actress. This was followed by string of movies including Funny Face (1957), Breakfast at Tiffany's came in 1961 and in 1964 her sparkling role in My Fair Lady.

One of her last feature films was "Robin and Marian" in 1976 but continued until Always in 1989.

In 1988, Audrey became a special ambassador to the United Nations UNICEF fund helping children in Latin America and Africa, a position she retained until 1993. Audrey Hepburn died on January 20, 1993 in Tolochnaz, Switzerland. She had made a total of 31 high quality movies.
