Founded in 1999 Birger has been engaged primarily in the development of image processing and compression algorithms. Birger Engineering's unique talents have been recognized by industry leaders. Birger Engineering was named to the Xilinx Alliance Partnership as a design services partner in October 2000. Birger Engineering employees Erik Widding and David Dean, along with the entire Personal Satellite Assistant "First Generation Team", were recognized by NASA in September 2004 with the prestigious Group Achievement Award. Birger Engineering was responsible for developing the Vision Processing Unit for this robot.
