We analyze greenhouse gases (GHG) emitted
during the making, use and disposal of a product.
CERTIFICATION
Provided they meet our requirements,
we label assessed products
"Climate Conscious."
INFORMED PURCHASING
Armed with information about the climate impacts of their daily purchases, shoppers vote with their dollars and buy more Climate Conscious products.
EMISSIONS DECREASE
Companies realize their customers care and work
even harder to reduce their carbon footprint. GHG
emissions decrease and we all win.
In addition to the Climate Conscious Assessment of Fat Tire Amber Ale that TCC performed for New Belgium Brewing Company in 2008 (available here), TCC also recently completed a study on the potential for reducing the carbon footprint of Fat Tire by improved agricultural practices.
Read the results of our study comparing the carbon footprint of conventional, organic, and "sustainable" agricultural inputs to Fat Tire: Agricultural Report.
As the chair of the technical working group developing standards for the Reporting and Assurance chapters of the forthcoming GHG Protocol on product-level inventories, TCC's
Co-Founder and CEO, Dr. Steven Davis, participated in the most recent discussions in mid-June 2009. Read more about the initiative here.
Salon.com published a story considering the relative impact on the climate of paper towels and electric hand dryers used in public restrooms. TCC helped with the calculations. Our assumptions and work are shown here.
