The European Conference of Natural History Museums
The "Grigore Antipa" National Museum of Natural History from Bucharest organized during 9-12 November 2008, the "EUROPEAN CONFERENCE OF NATURAL HISTORY MUSEUMS" under the title "100 years of museum studies". This event was dedicated to the anniversary of one hundred years since the establishment of the "Grigore Antipa" National Museum of Natural History and its main goal was to bring together in Bucharest the representatives of the most important museums of zoology in Europe with the prospect to establish contacts and partnerships dedicated to the mutual promotion of the cultural heritage.
This Conference was also a great opportunity to learn about and follow the best ways to organize, conserve and promote scientific and cultural patrimonies, by modernization of permanent exhibitions, by presenting original temporary exhibitions, special programs for the public or by renewing the image of the museums through complex advertising campaigns.
This European gathering has represented a good way to make new contacts and to establish new joint cultural programs, that are essential to promoting the European natural history patrimony for the institutions and also for the participants at the event. We must not forget the importance of education and information of the public regarding the necessity of protecting the environment, the habitats and the species of Europe and the World.
