We as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex (LGBTI) activists in Kwa-Thema have noticed that the violence against LGBTIs is on the rise as in the case of the murders of Girlie Nkosi, Eudy Simelani and many others in Ekurhuleni. Together with Gay and Lesbian Equality Project therefore formed a committee by the name of Ekurhuleni Pride Organizing Committee (EPOC) to deal with this issue. We then came up with the idea to host a march across Kwa-Thema streets calling for an end to violence against women as its main message.
