As a part of the United Nations, there are 53 members of ECOSOC (the UN Economic and Social Council.) Nineteen of these members are charged with giving NGOs consultative status (ECOSOC status) at the UN. This gives NGOs access to, amongst other things, the Commission of Human Rights (CHR).
