Open Days: Eesti partnerite nimekiri on kättesaadav

26.05.2011 -Ettevalmistused 2011. aasta ürituseks Open Days (Euroopa piirkondade ja linnade nädal) on kevadel, enne suvel algavat registreerimist, hoo sisse saanud. Juba on endast teatanud enam kui kolm Eesti partnerit, kes hakkavad nii Brüsselis kui oma asukohas organiseerima üritusi piirkondliku mõõtmega Euroopa ja Euroopa mõõtmega piirkondade teemal. Kui Teil on samuti soov korraldada oma piirkonnas Euroopa-teemaline üritus Open Days raames, siis on Teil aega 27. maini, et tutvustada meile oma ideid.

A helping hand for volunteering

16.05.2011 - What started off as a local idea has now blossomed into a worldwide phenomenon. In 2007, a group of Estonians dreamt up a scheme to rid their country of illegally dumped waste in just one day. Four years later the idea has caught on and ten countries have decided to follow suit. Local government support played a crucial role in this successful operation.

New association gives voice to Europe’s small towns

22.03.2011 - A new European grouping – the Confederation of Small Towns and Municipalities of the European Union (CTME) – was officially launched in Brussels on 15 February 2011. Its aim is to ensure that the voices of Europe’s small and medium-sized towns are heard at European level and that their interests are fully represented.

On the shores of the Baltic - Europe seen from Tallinn (Estonia) 

15.03.2011 - Tallinn, Estonia's capital city, lies on the country's north coast facing the Gulf of Finland. The city dates back to the 11th century, and its well preserved Old Town is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 2011, Tallinn is a European Capital of Culture, with over 250 different activities taking place throughout the year to attract residents and visitors alike. Mayor Edgar Savisaar describes Tallinn's year as a Capital of Culture as an "unprecedented event in Estonia's modern history", offering a "unique opportunity for cultural exchange". Toomas Vitsut, CoR member and Chairman of Tallinn City Council, believes that Capital of Culture events have stimulated the whole country. "All these activities have focused on improving the quality of life", he said.
