21.02.2011 - For the first six months of 2011, Hungary will take over the rotating presidency of the EU for the first time since joining the European Union in 2004. The economic crisis and social integration are among the country's priorities for its six-month stint in charge, issues that are also of importance to the Committee of the Regions.

Innovation for Growth - Using Regions as the Powerhouse for the Delivery of the I-conomy in Europe
08.07.2010 - STUNS (the Foundation for Collaboration between the Universities in Uppsala, the Business sector and Public organizations) and the Innovation for Growth project lead by the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) will be holding a conference with the overall objective of identifying the strengths and the challenges for knowledge and innovation driven growth in Sweden.

Stockholm shares its secrets with the Covenant of Mayors
26.04.2010 - As signatories of the Covenant of Mayors meet in Brussels on 4 May for the second annual signature ceremony in the European Parliament, one signatory city – Swedish capital Stockholm – will use the event to highlight its own approach to sustainable urban development. Stockholm is the EU's first European Green Capital, and hopes that its approach to green urban planning can serve as a role model to the other Covenant cities.

Svenska Företagsamt Halland har nominerats till de Europeiska näringslivspriserna 2010
17.03.2010 - Svenska Företagsamt Halland har nominerats till årets Europeiska näringslivspriser. För att öka andelen företagare i regionen utarbetade Företagsamt en strategi med fokus på utbildning. Målet var att stärka företagandet bland ungdomar och vuxna i området. I den regionala strategin introducerades företagsorienterad undervisning som pedagogisk metod i grundskolor, gymnasier och vuxenutbildning. Undervisningen omfattade bland annat fortbildning av lärare, nätverksmöjligheter för studenter och företagare och virtuella och fysiska sammanträdesplatser för skolor. Resultatet var att andelen unga som ville bli egenföretagare nära nog fördubblades från 26 % 2004 till 44 % 2008.

09.12.2009 - Östersjöstrategin, som antogs av kommissionen i juni 2009, är den första makroregionala strategin och en ny form av EU-samarbete. EU:s framtida politik beror på om strategin blir framgångsrik. Om man genom Östersjöstrategin lyckas skapa en sammanhängande, ekonomiskt stark och konkurrenskraftig region och om man lyckas samordna åtgärderna i fråga om transporter, miljöskydd, utveckling av företagsanda och innovation, har detta omfattande mångåriga projekt lyckats.

Lokala evenemang kommer att anordnas av alla regioner och städer som deltar som partner i OPEN DAYS, liksom av andra sammanslutningar och organisationer under parollen "Europa i vår region/stad".
