BOMBINGS OF AFGHANISTAN CAN LAST FOR SEVERAL MONTHS - THE WASHINGTON POST

Bomb strikes at Afghanistan can last for several months. Then with air support a 20,000-strong military contingent will be brought in the territory of this country. This was disclosed on Friday by the Washington Post with reference to the sources in the western diplomatic quarters.
According to the newspaper, the US 10th mountain rifle division, part of which has been deployed in Uzbekistan, will be brought in Afghanistan's territory.
Referring to officials and analysts the Washington Post writes that the ground forces can help the Northern Alliance Forces to seize the key Afghan cities - first Mazar-i-Sharif, then Kabul and after that the headquarters of the Taliban - Kabul.
Following this to retain the captured cities and to ensure security in Afghanistan will require the deployment of tens of thousands of peacekeepers in this country, the paper says.
