G-8 LEADERS HOLD FIRST ROUTINE SESSION IN GENOA

The G-8 leaders are holding their first routine session in the Italian city of Genoa. The leaders of the eight industrialised nations are discussing poverty problems.
Until lunch they will hold another session to discuss the issues of the planet's climate, environmental protection, safe foodstuffs, bio-technologies, renewable energy sources, human genome and cloning. After that the G-8 leaders will have a business lunch, during which they will discuss political and regional issues, in particular, the Middle East settlement and the Balkan developments.
