TOTAL WAR FEARED BY ISRAEL

The joint Chief of Staff of the Israeli Armed Forces, General Moshe Yaalon, declares that there is a serious risk of war between Israel and Syria.

On 22nd October, the Shi’ite Lebanese Hezbollah faction, supported by Syria and Iran, launched an attack with 20 rockets on Israeli frontier positions at Sammaqa and Rouaissat-al-Aalam. The group claimed to be members of the Martyrs of Al-Aqsa, which belongs to the Islamic Resistance, the armed wing of Hezbollah. A spokesperson stated that the reason for the attack was “the continuation of our Jihad to free the occupied territories."

The Israeli Armed Forces replied with four rockets and several hundred 150mm. shells against frontier positions, claiming that the Israeli population in the north of the country was at risk from attacks by Hezbollah. General Moshe Yaalon claimed last Sunday that this event could easily snowball into a “total war with Syria."

Yesterday the subject was acknowledging that maybe the Taliban was right this time, that a 1,000-pound bomb seems to have missed its target and fell near what was described as a senior citizens’ home in Herat on Sunday (UN employees said it was a hospital and that it was destroyed).
