Hundreds Rally for “Free Country” in Moscow on Russia Day

On June 12, Day of Russia, some 600 people gathered in Moscow centre for a rally entitled “Free country for free people”. The protesters, mostly young people, rallied against nationalism, mass media censorship, political arrests, army hazing and the so-called “Operation Successor” that kicked off ahead of nearing presidential elections.

Da Vinci Code Poster Burnt in Moscow by Orthodox Activists

Around 100 protesters representing a Russian Orthodox movement burned a poster advertising the The Da Vinci Code at Pushkin Square in central Moscow, on the day of the controversial film’s premier. Protesters at the meeting, organized by the Union of Orthodox Citizens, held icons, crosses and banners, one of which read: “The Da Vinci Code: you buy a ticket — you sell Jesus.”

Former TV Stars Rally Against Censorship in Moscow
