Murdoch unveils BSkyB digital terrestrial Picnic
October 02, 2007
British Sky Broadcasting said it plans to offer Sky Sports, Sky News, Sky Sports News, entertainment channel Sky 3, Sky Movies and a kids channel via a digital terrestrial package called Picnic.
It has submitted its launch plans to the regulator and said it wants to bundle broadband and on-demand services into the package, which subscribers will be able to access if they buy a new Sky-brand set-top box.
"The launch of Picnic will be a big step forward for customers who are hungry for value and simplicity," Murdoch said. "We are looking forward to the conclusion of the regulatory approval process so we can get going delivering a great service and real savings to customers."
A decision on approval from Ofcom is expected this year.
