The following are linked to events which took place in the month of October.

  1. His memorial is in St Paul's Cathedral, his Blue Plaque is in Barton Street, Westminster. In October, 1918, he captured Damascus from the Turks.
  2. This author, commemorated by a plaque Dunraven Street, Wl, was born on 15 October, 1881. One of his most famous creations lived in Half Moon Street.
  3. Which Prime Minister died on 18 October, 1865, with the words: "Die my dear doctor? That's the last thing I shall do!" His statue, unusually holding a coat, is in Parliament Square.
  4. 25 October, 1854, was the day of a military disaster during a war in which Britain and France united against Russia. A Lincolnshire-born poet, commemorated by a Blue Plaque in Upper Belgrave Street, wrote a poem about the event. He died on 6 October, 1892. Name the event and the poet.
