- His memorial
is in St Paul's Cathedral, his Blue Plaque is in Barton Street,
Westminster. In October, 1918, he captured Damascus from the Turks.
- This author,
commemorated by a plaque Dunraven Street, Wl, was born on 15 October,
1881. One of his most famous creations lived in Half Moon Street.
- Which Prime
Minister died on 18 October, 1865, with the words: "Die my dear
doctor? That's the last thing I shall do!" His statue, unusually
holding a coat, is in Parliament Square.
- 25 October,
1854, was the day of a military disaster during a war in which
Britain and France united against Russia. A Lincolnshire-born poet,
commemorated by a Blue Plaque in Upper Belgrave Street, wrote a
poem about the event. He died on 6 October, 1892. Name the event
and the poet.
