Continuous Support Solution - Service Overview
Enterprise software support has typically been provided as an afterthought. Without competitive pressure to innovate, create excellence and win customer loyalty, support is managed as a cost center by most enterprise software vendors, and consequently customer satisfaction is low. SourceLabs addresses this gap with the Continuous Support Solution: technology, services and software distribution that delivers high-quality, responsive support and maintenance services that reduce the operational risks and costs of using Open Source software.

This paper describes the problems the Continuous Support Solution addresses, the benefits of the system and the underlying technology which enables the system's capabilities.

Special Considerations For Financial Services Firms Using Open Source Software
Open Source infrastructure software is increasingly being deployed by financial institutions. Because many Open Source packages are selected and incorporated directly into custom applications by developers, they bypass traditional purchasing channels and their attendant legal, standards and technical review processes.

IT management is often not aware of the Open Source software running in their data centers, and sometimes do not have support and maintenance measures in place for Open Source software running in production applications. With the advent of regulatory structures such as the Basel II accords, the reliability of computing systems is increasingly subject to regulatory scrutiny. Not having adequate support and maintenance measures in place creates a significant new compliance risk for financial institutions.

This paper describes these risks and outlines best practices and an anti-failure program that brings systems depending on Open Source packages into compliance and reduces overall operational risk.

Emerging Open Source Java Frameworks
The set of frameworks and libraries to use for building enterprise Java applications is dominated by Open Source projects. Open source projects such as Spring and Hibernate have pushed the state of the art, and Struts is the de facto standard for Java web applications. How do you take advantage of this innovation without importing technology that may not be production-ready?

In this session, we'll help you make sense of the continuous evolution of Java Open Source projects. By analyzing different common enterprise application architectures, you'll understand what projects to rely on for SOA and web applications. We'll look retrospectively at the history of Java web frameworks, lightweight containers, and data technologies and evaluate where the projects are trending so that you can make an informed decision on what technologies to adopt.
