Administrative Services

Boulder County Administrative Services maintains internal functions that help County offices and departments serve the public.

Assessor

Lists and values property for tax purposes with the emphasis on distributing those taxes as fairly and equitably as possibly under Colorado State Laws.

Clerk and Recorder

Provide state mandated services to the public in the areas of voter registration and election conduct, motor vehicle titling and registration, recording of real estate, and other documents, and the issuing of marriage licenses.

Commissioners

Keeping within the guidelines of Federal, State and County regulations, the Board of County Commissioners directs County programs and approves the County's budget and policies.

Community Services

Provide services to Boulder County residents in the areas of employment & training, community justice programs, pre-school & day-care, self-sufficiency, aging services, housing and substance abuse prevention activities for youth. The department also provides assistance for veterans and their families, coordinates child protection review teams, volunteer initiatives, and strives to combine efforts and create dialogue with other agencies and community groups in human services and economic development.

County Attorney's Office

The County Attorney is appointed by the Board of County Commissioners and is responsible for advising them, the elected officials, and various County departments on legal issue involving decision-making, policies, regulations, operations and programs; drafting regulations, resolutions, and ordinances for the Board; represents the people of the State of Colorado in dependency and neglect and mental health proceedings; does not provide general legal advice to the public.

District Attorney

Prosecute felonies and misdemeanors under the laws of the State of Colorado for Boulder County.

Geographic Information

Since 1987, GIS technology has become an integral part of almost all of Boulder County's governmental functions: property assessment; land use and zoning issues; road construction and maintenance; emergency and law enforcement; snow plowing; open-space acquisitions, operations and management; wildfire mitigation; health concerns and precinct delineation.

Housing

The Boulder County Housing helps foster the availability of quality, affordable housing and related services for lower income residents of Boulder County

Land Use

County planning for land use, both long range and current. Other Operations: zoning, processing of building permits and building inspections; provide mapping service and identification of areas within the County; monitor legislative activity.

Parks and Open Space

Promote and provide for the preservation of open space, environmental and cultural resources, and non-urban recreational opportunities in a manner which reflects sound resource management and community values.

Public Health

Protect and enhance the health of all people of Boulder County through preventive activities; coordination of inter-agency efforts, and interventions designed to promote positive health behaviors, all based on ongoing community needs assessments.

Public Trustee

The Boulder County Public Trustee Office handles foreclosures and releases of deeds of trust in Boulder County. This office assists homeowners that are facing foreclosure or suggest other programs that are available.

Sheriff

Provide efficient and effective public safety and law enforcement services to the people of the County. All department operations will be consistent with the Constitution and the laws of the United States and Colorado and will reflect a commitment to the highest ethical and professional standards.

Social Services

Provide basic economic assistance and human services to County residents in a manner which preserves or improves the quality of life for families and individuals. To accomplish this, Social Services must balance State and Federal mandates with client needs, County directives, and available resources. The philosophy of staff is to promote self-sufficiency and to enhance dignity and self-worth of those we serve.

Transportation

Provide county-wide services in transportation planning, engineering, construction and related activities, road maintenance for a safe and properly maintained roadway system in a cost effective, efficient, responsive and courteous manner.

Treasurer's Office

The County Treasurer collects property taxes, distributes taxes to the taxing authorities, invests county monies, sells and manages property tax liens, and acts as the banker for other county offices.
