Admin Services
Provides
volunteering/interning opportunities within the agency, registers/issues
birth and death certificates, and
collects/analyzes public health data to assess health trends in Boulder
County.

Health Planning
Collects and analyzes public health data in order to assess
health trends in the county. Provides health statistics and planning
consultation to other BCPH programs and community agencies.
Vital Records
Registers all home births and deaths in Boulder County. Makes available on
demand, certified copies of Colorado birth and Boulder County death records.
Volunteer
Services
Recruits and places all volunteers/interns within Boulder County Public Health
(BCPH) programs.

Inpatient Detoxification
(Detox) Program
Provides safe detoxification from alcohol and/or drugs 24 hours/day, 7
days/week. Provides referrals for HIV testing, family counseling,
psychiatric assessment, and medical referral.
Intensive Teen Outpatient Program
(ITOP)
Provides drug and alcohol treatment to teenagers, 14-17 years,
involved in the juvenile justice and social service systems, who are at
risk for out-of-home placement.
Impaired Driver Program
Provides drug and alcohol treatment services and promotes responsible
behavior and better decision-making for individuals under court order for
driving while impaired/intoxicated.
Outpatient Program
Provides non-residential drug and alcohol treatment and replaces substance
abuse behavior with effective coping skills, life management skills, and
alternatives to substance abuse.
Specialized Women's Services
(SWS) Program
Provides specialized drug and alcohol treatment services to pregnant and
parenting women. Services include individual and group counseling/therapy,
case management, drug/alcohol testing/monitoring, and psychiatric services.

Communicable
Disease Division
Prevention of communicable diseases through community-based
education, immunizations, surveillance and rapid investigation, as well as planning initiatives to respond to emergency incidents.

AIDS Prevention/Risk Reduction Program
Reduces the spread of HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and sexually
transmitted infections.
Communicable
Disease Control Program
Provides community-based education on significant
communicable diseases and is responsible for ongoing surveillance,
investigation and control of conditions such as meningitis, E. coli, and
West Nile Virus.
Emergency Preparedness
Program
Protects Boulder County residents from adverse consequences of both
unintentional (flood, wildfire) and intentional (bioterrorism) events.
Immunization
Program
Increases immunization rates in Boulder County, thereby minimizing the
incidence and prevalence of vaccine-preventable communicable diseases
among children and adults.
Tuberculosis Control Program
The staff in the TB program work with Denver Metro TB Clinic to provide
diagnosis and treatment for suspect and active tuberculosis patients and
their contacts. The program serves as an information resource for health
care providers and the general community.

Community
Health Division
Offers preventive services for pregnant/parenting teens and
high-risk youth, as well as for unintended pregnancy,
alcohol diversion, and tobacco control.

Alcohol Diversion Program
Substance abuse education, treatment, and referral for teens, young adults
and families. Strong focus on family dynamics, decision making and
communication.
GENESIS Program
(teen pregnancy and parenting)
Promotes healthy parenting practices within Boulder County's teen parent
families. Home-based services help pregnant and parenting teens build
skills to support healthy outcomes for the fetus/child and the parent.
Health Outreach & Advocacy
Program (HOAP)
The goal of HOAP is to increase healthy
behavior within identified at-risk populations in Boulder County.
HOAP staff will provide training on relevant public health topics to
service providers, address issues regarding local access to health care,
and utilize social marketing campaigns to impact positive health behavior
changes.
Prevention/Intervention (P/I) Program
Protects the health and promotes resiliency of adolescents and their
families. Provides intervention counseling and short-term therapeutic
services in all middle and high schools in the St. Vrain and Boulder
Valley School Districts.
TEPP (Tobacco Education and Prevention
Partnership) Program
Reduces morbidity and mortality from tobacco-related causes for smokers and
non-smokers through community action and community- empowered strategies.
Unintended Pregnancy
Prevention Program
Reduces the incidence of unintended pregnancy and promotes healthy family
development in Boulder County.

Air Quality
Program
Improves indoor and outdoor air
quality in Boulder County and ensures Boulder County businesses are in
compliance with the 1990 Federal Clean Air Act Amendments.
Consumer Protection Program
Educates and regulates retail food environments, body art establishments (including piercing and tattoo parlors), and vectors of animal-borne diseases
(including mosquito-born encephalitis, West Nile Virus, rabies, plague, and
hantavirus).
Hazardous
Waste Program
Minimizes public and environmental health threats resulting from emergency
spills and improper disposal of hazardous waste.
Laboratory
Reduces risk of waterborne disease and illness through affordable water
testing of community and private water systems.
Pollution
Prevention (P2) Program
Pollution prevention means releasing fewer hazardous chemicals into the environment and reducing waste. Our Pollution
Prevention team can help with specific questions about hazardous materials
and alternatives in your home, and offers presentations for groups, schools, and organizations. The Partners for a Clean
Environment (PACE) Program includes the cities of Boulder & Longmont
and the Boulder Chamber of Commerce.
Vector
Control Program
A “vector” is an animal or insect capable of transmitting disease to humans.
This program monitors wildlife, mosquitoes, ticks, and other insects to detect the presence of encephalitis, rabies, plague, tularemia, and hantavirus. The program also oversees the Boulder County Mosquito Control Program.
WASH -
Watershed Approach to Stream Health
Improves water quality, prevents water-related illness, and reduces
waterborne disease transmission by reducing environmental and public
health impacts of stormwater-related, non-point source water pollution.

Quality Program
Improves water quality, prevents water-related illness, and reduces waterborne disease transmission in Boulder County.
Evaluates residential water/wastewater systems (septic/sewer systems).
Coordinates the Watershed Approach to Stream Health (WASH) Project that
addresses stormwater runoff.
Also coordinates the Lefthand Watershed Task Force to make recommendations on cleanup options for the Lefthand
Watershed.

Promotes healthy children/families through immunizations, food supplements, and services
for children with special needs.

Child Health Promotion
(CHP) Program
Improves the health, safety, and quality of care for children in child
care settings. Assists in identifying needs of infants
and children.
Children with Special Needs
Program (CSNP)
Supports optimal health and well-being of children with special needs and
their families. Reduces developmental delays among high-risk infants and
children.
Community Infant Program (CIP)
Promotes healthy attachments and safety between parents and infants in
high-risk families.
EPSDT (Early Periodic Screening, Diagnosis, &
Treatment) Program
Helps children on Medicaid from birth to 21 years of age receive needed
health services, including preventive care.
Nurse-Family Partnership
(NFP) Program
Improves perinatal outcomes, improves growth and development of children.
Promotes economic self-sufficiency for low-income, first-time mothers.
Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program
Improves pregnancy outcomes and supports optimal childhood growth and
development for low-income pregnant and breast-feeding women and children
under the five years of age. Assists in creating family
support systems. Clients receive vouchers for healthy foods and infant
formulas, nutrition education, breast-feeding support, and referrals to
other services as needed.
