EXASS Net document on drug user involvement now available
User involvement is a crucial aspect in policy development and service delivery. The 6th EXASS Net meeting in Amsterdam
explored ways of user involvement and empowerment. In the field of drug policies target group and user involvement is
mainly organised at three levels: Supporting of self-organisation for drug users, promotion of involving drug users in
services and integration of users in local partnerships.

Call for application for the 2010 European Drug prevention Prize
The Pompidou Group has just launched its 4th Prize and calls for projects to apply. For the first time, projects
from all 47 Council of Europe member states are invited to participate. Three youth projects
will be rewarded for their innovative work. The Prize will be awarded at the Ministerial Conference taking place
on 3-4 November 2010 in Strasbourg.

MedNET Conference: adoption of a declaration of commitment
Decision-makers in charge of drug issues from member states of the Mediterranean network (MedNet) who met for the first
time in Strasbourg, adopted a declaration to commit themselves to actively support MedNet in the future. They
examined the results of a feasibility study on the creation of a Mediterranean monitoring centre for drugs and drug
addiction, invited Jordan and Egypt to join the network and adopted the network's 2009 activities report and
2010 work programme.

Launch of a feasibility study on the creation of a
Mediterranean monitoring centre on drugs and drug addiction
To complete this study, a series of missions will take place
in October in Lebanon, Algeria, Morocco and Egypt
with the aim to determine whether the creation of a
monitoring centre will meet the needs of policy-makers of the MedNET member States. The results of this
study will be presented during a high level conference on 1st December 2009 in Strasbourg.

Survey on addictive substances among school children in Lebanon
The Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Lebanon announced during a press conference on 9th October the results
of the national MedSPAD Survey "Awareness and practices related to addictive substances among school children".
It is the first MedSPAD survey carried out at national level in the MedNET member States.
