WARNING: HBP spoilers! Beta reader? yes, I am. Latest Story: Quest for Freedom About Me I'm an obssesive Harry Potter fan, believe me, I can move any conversation on any topic onto a Harry Potter conversation without any effort (in fact I drove my sister so bonkers today that she ended up yelling at me in the middle of the street) . I discovered fanfiction by chance in the summer of 2003 and have never looked back since. The stories I love most of all at fluffy stories but I also won't turn away a nice tragic one. Angst isn't one of my favourites, I find it too frustrating, although I have read some very good angsty stories. I have only ever shipped Harry/Ginny as a main ship, with Remus/Tonks and Ron/Hermione making casual appearances, but I'm really not that bothered about those. I've introduced one of my best friends to this site, nymph_of_dawn, so go read her story too. I'm afraid there won't be many new stories posted in the forseeable future as I've just started college, but I may get one or two out. It just depends when the plot bunny hits. Other Archives Sink Into Your Eyes Part of the Harry/Ginny network. Used to be some of the best Harry/Ginny fiction to be found on the internet. Now becoming governed by too many rules from the admins, and there's a lot of rubbish like we're accustomed to seeing on FF.Net FanFiction.Net Well, we all know that one My ships are: Harry/Ginny Obviously. It's even canon now! Ron/Hermione I think we'll have to wait until the very end, but it'll happen... Neville/Luna Ah well. It may never be canon but it's still cute. Remus/Tonks Not really sure why, just seems to fit. And it's canon! James/Lily The ultimate ship because we all know that it's true My hated ships are: Draco/Ginny Oh it's just not right! Ginny and the ferret! It makes me shudder violently Draco/Hermione Hermione is meant for Ron! She hates the ferret! Sometimes I think that some people haven't even read the books! Draco/Harry First of all, HOW DARE YOU?! Secondly, this really makes me think that people haven't read the books. Thirdly, EWWW! Harry/Hermione Even JKR has said that this one won't happen! Harry/Ron EWWW! I don't even want to think about that! Hermione/Snape Please, give Hermione some credit. Even the ferret is better than Snivellus! EWW! Mental images! EWW! Go away! Harry/Snape This is so awful that it doesn't even deserve commenting on. But I'll do it anyway. I think I'm going to be needed a straight jacket and a padded room if I ever stumble across and accidentally read anything of this nature. Just the idea of it is enough to make someone lose their mind. EWWW! Make it go away! Please, make it go away!
LOURDES
This summer I visited Lourdes for the second time as a Youth Pilgrim with my Archdiocese. Over 400 young people go on 7 coaches (its a 26 hour journey) to help the sick and infirm to get around Lourdes. We push wheelchairs, or chariots, and chat to all the pilgrims we meet. It's a wonderful experience and as every day passes I love it even more. This year I met an amazing lady. Her name was Doreen, though we all knew her as Doll. She was there with her husband Ted and it was their first ever time in Lourdes. On the Sunday after noon, myself and three of my friends took Doll and Ted shopping. During the shopping trip Doll bought her hat, a hat which became famous. It was straw, with a pink scarf tied around it. It cost only five euros, but it really made Doll stand out in the crowd. Later that day, as luck would have it, I ended up pushing Doll to Blessed Sacrament down in the Underground Basilica. There was a queue of hundreds of wheelchairs with nothing moving, so Doll, in her wonderful Scouse accent, said "Do you want to play frisbee?" and whipped the hat of her head. So, down in the holy Domaine of Lourdes a played frisbee with my pilgrim. Also that evening, Doll decided that it would be funny to tell a young lad called Alex that his legs needed waxing, repeatedly. From that day on, Doll was my favourite pilgrim, and I had a little routine at each mass after that. I would spot the hat in the crowd, calculate my quickest route to Doll and Ted, then as soon as we were allowed to move, leg it to them before anyone else got there.
On our last day with the pilgrims, I ended up saying goodbye to Doll and Ted three times. After Anointing in teh morning, I opped into their room to say goodbye just in case I didn't see them again. But that afternoon at departure mass, my pilgrim was parked just a couple of chairs from Doll and Ted so we had a good long chat. My friend Tom and I took them back to their room and said our goodbyes, and left, thinking that was it for the year. But that night, my friend from hospitality, Kathy, called my friend Tom and asked us to go to the hospital, because she had something to give us. So we went and when we got there we couldn't see Kathy so we went into Doll and Ted's room for a chat. How Doll knew I was going to be there I will never know, but she had saved me her ice cream from their evening meal, because our food had been so bad. By this time, it was a bit melted, so a simply drank it instead. It was very good. Doll and Ted were bikering because they'd lost the keys to the suitcase and Ted came out with his memorable line "the man is always wrong." Kathy arrived a few minutes later and gave me a lovely little Lourdes medal. We said goodbye to Doll and Ted, gave them a love and left, to go and meet the rest of our coach at the bar.
The next morning Tom was on duty at the St Frai (the hospital). Breakfast was only at half nine, but my roommates in their infinite wisdom, decided we'd get up at seven to pack. It was quarter past seven when we dragged ourselves out of bed and only moments later the room was filled with a strange buzzing. I ignored it until my friend said "that's a phone" I realised it was mine, picked it up, and was a little surprised to see the time Tom on teh screen. I answered the call with a croaky "What?" as I was losing my voice and was greeted with "Get up."
"I'm up," I replied.
"Can I come to your room?"
I looked at my two friends. We were all decent so I said.
"Yeah, why?"
"I've got something to tell you."
Then he hung up. Putting my phone down on the table, I continued packing until there was a knock on the door about one minute later. I got up to answer it, and the sight that met me is one I'll never forget. Tom stood behind the door, holding Doll's hat. From the look on his face, I just knew what had happened. I muttered a small "No" before bursting into tears. My roommates looked confused and Tom simply said "Doll passed away last night."
As I write this now, just remembering that moment, the numbness and shaking returns. Doll was so full of life, such a great character with a wonderful sense of humour, that even though I'd only known her for five days, she was such a big part of my life. I feel so lucky that I had the oppurtunity and the privilege of meeting and knowing Doll, even for such a short time. My thoughts are with Ted, their six daughters, twenty grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, whose loss must be greatest. At her funeral, I thanked Ted for giving me her hat and he said to me "She'd have wanted you to have it. She loved you."
I look back on that week and I realise that everything really does happen for a reason. I know that I was supposed to meet Doll. I know that everything that transpired, especially on that last day was as God intended it. My memories of Lourdes 2006 will be of Doll.

Greetings from Germany! I#m on holiday at the moment and I#m staying with a very nice German family. This keyboard is messing with my head though. Y and Z have swapped places and there#s a bunch of extra letters that I don#t understand. I apologise for all the mistakes. I got my exam results last week. I got AAAAB which is pretty damn good. I also got a merit for my grade 7 flute. Yay me! When I return home I will write the final chapter of Quest for Freedom. I will. Anyway, I hope everyone is having a good summer, unless you live in Australia or New Zealand in which case I hope you#re having a good winter.
