Vale two Newtown Rugby League greats
Charles "Chicka" Cahill
Brian "Sharkey" McGreal
Charles "Chicka" Cahill passed away yesterday (July 14th 2007) at his home
on the Gold Coast at the age of 91.
A tough, uncompromising front rower of the old school, "Sharkey" passed away
on Saturday, 14th July at the age of 71.

Dale Newton to play in SOO3 curtain raiser
Newtown Jets front-rower Dale Newton has been called up for the NSW Residents XIII to play Queensland at Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday night as the main curtain-raiser to State of Origin III.

Newtown Jets announce a new major sponsor for 2007
The Newtown Rugby League Football Club has announced that the Bowlers' Club of NSW, located at 95 York Street, Sydney, will be the Jets' front of jersey sponsor for the 2007 season. Details

Newtown Junior Jets win relay heat at Telstra
Racing in a relay heat before the Souths V Parramatta game on Sunday, a Newtown Junior Jets team of Amed Ijaz (u/6), Manaaki Sassine (u/6), Jarred maloney (u/8), Ben Cassell (u/10), Chris Prorellis (u/12) and Nick Tomosvski (u14) won their relay heat against Maroubra and the Coogee Dolphins. The team now goes on to the next round of the relay competition.

Round 2 - Famous Amos steers the Jets home in the City of Sails [38-18]
The Newtown Jets first ever overseas competition match was a success on and off the field, with a 38-18 win over the Premier League newcomers the Auckland Lions plus a great reception at the lush Mt. Smart Stadium. Details

Round 1 - Jets snatch a draw against Dragons
After trailing 22-0 late in the first half, the Jets combined great defence and creative football to outscore the Dragons in the second half and gain a draw. Details

Carmel Tebbut announces upgrade for Henson Park
Carmel Tebbutt, Minister for Education and local Member braved the Henson Park rain to announce that the Iemma Labor Government will allocate $250,000 for resurfacing and upgraded irrigation for Henson Park.

Lelea Paea named on wing for Titans first game
All Newtown supporters will be pleased to see Lelea Paea named in the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans squad to play St George Illawarra in Round 1, Sunday 18 March. The game's being televised by Channel 9 so watch out for Lelea!

2006 Jets players step up in Foundation Cup
The Roosters defeated Wests Tigers in the inaugural Foundation Cup, winning 10-4, in front of more than 16000 fans. The team included ten players from the 2006 Newtown Jets Premier League Grand Final.

In their first Trial match, the Jets defeated a Norths team, 16-10. Norths, as the Souths feeder club included the Souths Premier League players.
