TRAILS

Zion Canyon is known for its majestic red mountains, providing many with hiking experiences on rocky terrain. Springdale, Utah is located just outside the South entrance to Zion National Park. Zion Park Blvd, the road into Zion, follows the Virgin River. The trails are accessible by the Zion Park Shuttle.

Trails in the south part of Zion range from a 1/2 mile round trip to Weeping Rock to 10 miles RT on the West Rim Trail. Most of these trails are steep and dangerous.

Trails start at the following Shuttle stop points: Zion Canyon Vistor Center (Easiest trail,) Weeping Rock, Temple of Sinawava (for going to "The Narrows,") Zion Lodge, and The Grotto.

CAMPING

Watchman Campground (largest) (1.800.365.CAMP) located by the Zion Canyon Visitor Center right next to the south entrance.
South Campground (435.772.3256.)
A little further into the Park and next to the Zion Nature Center.
Zion Lodge (435.772.3213) 7.3 miles into the Park and includes a restaurant.
Quality Inn RV Park (479 Zion Park Blvd in Springdale • 435.772.3237) This RV park also includes a Motel.

Kokopelli

The Anasazi people from 200BC to 700AD have used the flute playing deity Kokopelli in their art. His image is popular in this area as he is found in petroglyphs and native stories in the American Southwest.
