Why flax? Well high quality fl ax fi bre is a fl exible, extremely strong, very lightweight natural fi bre which has been used for reinforcing composites as far back as the 1940’s (an early example being when defence aircraft designers used it in an experimental Spitfi re fuselage) right up to modern day applications by the likes of BMW, Audi and Daimler-Benz.
By using a high quality Flax Fibre/Carbon Fibre Twill composite hybrid sandwich, Museeuw and his partners have been able to produce a lightweight
Carbon frame which has excellent vibration absorbing properties, whilst retaining the responsiveness associated with a Carbon frame.
