ABOUT THE AUSTRALIAN GT CHAMPIONSHIP
The Sandown GT Classic is the first genuine endurance event contested by the Australian GT Championship which was established in 2005 when it combined grids with the Porsche Drivers Challenge.
Since its inception, the Championship has flourished into one of, and if not the biggest growth category in the country. The Championship is moving to full FIA GT3 specification cars by 2009 and has seen the introduction of a number of new cars in 2007 namely the Lamborghini Gallardo, Aston Martin DBRS9, Lotus Cadena and the Ferrari 430, all of which are FIA GT3 specification cars
The Championship can expect to host a number of new cars before the end of 2007 and for the 2008 season with a number of teams looking to purchase FIA GT3 Specification Corvettes, Dodge Vipers, Maserati and Porsches….
