Training

The Organising Committee will supervise the training of international crews on the designated and reserved sections of Lake Karapiro from 18 October 2010 until the end of the Championships. Training is dependent on safe rowing conditions as assessed by the Karapiro Training Supervisor.

The published and displayed traffic rules are to be followed at all times. Click links below to view traffic plans.

TRAINING FROM 18 – 28 OCTOBER 2010

The rowing course will open each day for general (non-adaptive) training at 0700 (venue opens 0630) and close at 1900 (venue closes 1930).

General long distance training will also be available between 0900 and 1700 over a 5 km stretch of Lake Karapiro beyond (above) the rowing course.

ROTATION: The rotation is clockwise keeping the nearest riverbank to the stroke/port side.

CAUTION: Crews will need to pass through two weed chains buoyed across the lake just above the start and then bypass two large pylons in the centre of the lake.

The rowing course will be closed between 1330 and 1500 for adaptive training.   Additional and separate adaptive training on a line out from the adaptive pontoon will be available between 1000 and 1200 according to demand.

General training on the course resumes 15 minutes (that is 1515) after adaptive training fi nishes on the course to enable the adaptive crews to clear the pontoons.

No coach boats or other private boats are permitted in the training zones on Lake Karapiro at any time over the 7 km stretch of water above the Karapiro dam.

A limited opportunity will be available until 28 October for coaches to view the training from motorboats stationed in the neutral lane near the 1000m mark (500m for adaptives). That opportunity will be managed by a booking system that will operate according to demand and to ensure fair access for all.

The rowing course will open each day for general training from 0630 (venue opens 0600) and close at1900 (venue closes 1930).

Training will be only on the rowing course.

No coach boats or other private boats are permitted at anytime on that stretch of water between the Karapiro Dam and Keeley’s Reserve (the 5 km stretch of water above the Karapiro dam).
