It pays to start your
trips into nature from the new, superb Nature Protection Centre for Upper Lapland in the
village of Inari. It is operated by the Forest and Park Service. You can rent log cabins,
buy maps, get fishing and snowmobile permits, and get information about wilderness trips
and the nature in the local area. In Siida, you can learn about the Sámi and the nature in Upper Lapland. The joint exhibitions at the Sámi Museum and Nature Centre tell of the co-existence between man and nature and their adjustment to the harsh conditions in the North. |
