Peace and silence dominate Lake Inari. You can hear the call of the ancient pine trees. They have survived countless changes in the climate.

More than 60% of the catchment area of Lake Inari is protected in varying degrees. The wildness of the area is ensured by the shore protection programme, the extensive wilderness areas of the protected recreational forests of Vätsäri, and the Fells of Hammas and Muotka, and by Finland’s largest national park, the River Lemmenjoki National Park.
