April 27, 2004:

The final exam will cover everything in class, as well as appendix A and chapters 2 through 8. Assume that the final will not require (and will not allow) calculators.

April 15, 2004:

For the last weeks of lab, you have an opportunity to connect what you have learned in Signals and Systems to something that you are passionate about. The form that this will take will depend on your individual interests. You might spend your time exploring aspects of past labs or material that have intrigued you, or develop the signals-and-systems aspects of a project that you are working on or an interest of yours. You may also, but are not expected to, put together something for Expo, perhaps based on a lab of which you were particularly proud.

The first phase is to think about these interconnections and write a proposal. Diana and Jimmy are available to help you find intersections between signals and systems and your interests. The Friday and Monday lab times will be opportunities to discuss your thoughts.

A full draft of the assignment is available, and will be completed Friday afternoon.

February 26, 2004:

The grading policy has change to ameliorate a discrepancy between the verbally stated policy and the policy on the website. Now, attempted by incorrect problems get 1/2 credit, correct problems completed before the due date get full credit, and correct problems completed after the due date get 3/4 credit, as long as you attempted the problem before the due date.

February 20, 2004:

  • chapter 3 all except sections 3.5 and 3.6

January 23, 2004:

Collaboration Policy for Labs:
Feel free to work with other students, discussing problems and methods of approach with them, but do not share your solutions or Matlab code. If you are helping another student with his or her lab, a good metric for good-collaborative-helping is to keep your hands off the keyboard.

Turning in Labs:

  • Create a subdirectory of \\stufps01\StuFac\Signals and Systems\Lab Turnins\[First Name][Last Initial]\Lab [N].
  • Put all of your work into this directory. Make sure you include an" index file" which may contain your answers to questions but must contain:
    • Pointers to where any other work is (m-files, saved plots).
    • Your collaborators and time-spent
  • When you are ready for the lab to be graded, send jrising @ olin.edu an email with any notes of places where you're still confused or comments.

January 22, 2004:

The grading system is up! You will recieve an email with your password after you have turned in your first assignment.

Bins for turning in and picking up your work are in the bookcase at the back of AC109.

January 20, 2004:
