Hackman Owusu- Agyeman MP, New Juabeng North

Minister for Water Resources, Works & Housing

Mr Hackman Owusu Agyeman was born in 1941 at Effidiase in Koforidua in the Eastern Region. He attended St. Augustine College from 1961 to 1965 and proceeded to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 1965 to 1968 where he obtained a BSc Degree in Agriculture.

In 1969, he obtained his MSc Degree Agriculture Economics at WYE College University of London, U.K and in 1997 fetched himself a certificate in Agriculture Planning from the Institute of Social Studies at the Huge in Netherlands.

Mr Hackman Owusu served variously under the Food and Agricultural Organization. In 1974, he served as a Field Programme Officer; Economic Analysis Division in 1977 and in 1979 as a Co-operation and Liaison Officer. He was also a Regional officer of Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Accra. From 1979-84 he was the chief of Mission of F AO in Zambia.

Mr Hackman Owusu Agyeman was an FAO representative in Trinidad and Tobago, Caribbean, Guyana from 1984-89. During this era, he was also the Regional Bureau officer for Africa F AO Headquarters, Rome, Italy.

Mr Hackman Owusu Agyeman joined the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 1992 and was elected the treasurer of the party. He won the parliamentary seat of New Juaben North Constituency in 1996, 2000 and 2004. He had served as Minister For Foreign Affairs in 2001, Minister for Interior in 2003 and now Minister for Water Resources Works & Housing.
