Bio-Racer’s roots go back to the eighties, when computers and science were first used in the world of sport. (Click for larger image)  Raymond Vanstraelen, founder of Bio-Racer, is an ex-cyclist and trainer of various top cyclists. He has his own vision of the cyclist’s position on the bike and worked out a universal measurement system approaching perfection.

His pioneer work was digitalised and integrated in a computer system: the Bio-Racer measurement system was born. A true hype was created regarding the Bio-Racer measurement system. Numerous cyclists adapted the measurement system, always with success! This way the measurement system of Bio-Racer/Bike-Fitting developed into a permanent feature in the professional pack and the standard for the recreational cyclist.

There was another development in the eighties. Lycra, the material that became a craze in the skiworld, was also introduced to professional cycling packs. Good news for the many cyclists that had been bothered by the poor comfort of cycling trousers for years. The main cause of bother and irritation was the way in which the shammy was integrated into the trousers. To solve this problem, Bio-Racer developed its wellknown trousers with the Airstripe shammy, which unleashed a revolution in the world of cycling.

After this, Bio-Racer reviewed the cycling shirt’s cut. Research resulted in the design of the muchloved Bio-Racer shirt, which is worn by many professional and national teams and clubs.
