Outcome of the 12th ASEAN Plus Three Summit, 24 October 2009, Cha-am Hua Hin, Thailand
On 24 October 2009, at 1300 – 1545 hrs, H.E. Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, Prime Minister of Thailand, chaired the 12th ASEAN Plus Three Summit at Dusit Thani Hotel, Cha-am Hua Hin. The Heads of State/Government of ASEAN Member States had a productive discussion with H.E. Mr. Wen Jiabao, Premier of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, Prime Minister of Japan and H.E. Mr. Lee Myung-bak, President of the Republic of Korea. The meeting was divided into two sessions: Working Lunch and Plenary Meeting.

We, the Heads of State/Government of ASEAN Member States, gathered in Cha-am Hua Hin, Thailand, for the 15th ASEAN Summit on 23-25 October 2009. We had extensive, open and fruitful discussions under the theme of “Enhancing Connectivity, Empowering Peoples”.

China reaffirms support for ASEAN
PHETCHABURI, 25 October 2009 (NNT) – China has reiterated its support for ASEAN in regional cooperation, particularly in trade and investment during the 12th ASEAN-China Summit on Saturday at Dusit Thani Hotel.

PM satisfied with great success during 15th ASEAN Summit
PHETCHABURI, 24 October 2009 (NNT) - The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction that Thailand, as a chair of ASEAN, could make great progress among ASEAN country members while confirming mutual cooperation during the 15th ASEAN Summit and related summits.

ASEAN leaders agree to set up Asian Bond for economic liquidity
PHETCHABURI, 24 October 2009 (NNT)-ASEAN leaders have agreed to set up “Asian Bond” as a reserve market to enhance the market liquidity. It will strengthen long-term economic potentials in the region to cope with any crisis that may arise.

The Informal Meeting between ASEAN Leaders and Representatives of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) 23 October 2009
On 23 Ocober 2009 ASEAN Leaders had an informal meeting with Representatives of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) at the Dusit Thani Hua Hin Hotel, Cha-am, Thailand. The Meeting was chaired by H.E. Abhisit Vejjajiva, Prime Minister of Thailand, and was attended by ASEAN Heads of State/Heads of Government. H.E. Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, the Secretary-General of ASEAN, also presented at the Meeting.

Gist of the 12th ASEAN-ROK Summit
On the second day of the 15th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, Leaders of ASEAN countries met with the President of the Republic of Korea (ROK) during the 12th ASEANROK Summit in Dusit Thani Hotel, Cha-am, to discuss current and future cooperation as well as issues that affect the entire region. On 24 October 2009, the 12th ASEAN-Japan Summit was convened at the Dusit-Thani Hotel, Chaam,Petchburi. The Leaders of ASEAN Member States and Prime Minister of Japan, Mr. Yukio Hatoyama, participated in the meeting, of which gist is as follows.

Thailand-Japan highlight mutual cooperation
PHETCHABURI, 24 October 2009 (NNT) – Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama have highlighted mutual cooperation in political and economic aspects at a bilateral talk session this morning during the 2nd day of the 15th ASEAN Summit.

Deputy Commerce Minister: FTA to reduce tax and stimulate ASEAN economy
BANGKOK, 24 October 2009 (NNT) – The Deputy Commerce Minister, Alongkorn Ponlaboot stated yesterday that the taxation measures of the ASEAN free trade agreement (FTA) would be beneficial to the economy.

BANGKOK, 24 October 2009 (NNT) – Minister of Commerce, Porntiva Nakasai said China allowed Thailand to use the China ASEAN Investment Corporation Fund and its loans for regional logistics development.

BANGKOK, 24 October 2009 (NNT) – President of the Thai Trade Representatives, Kiat Sittheeamorn emphasized the necessity of the ASEAN Fund for SMEs after the association is established as a single market.

THE Second Meeting of the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community Council
The ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) Council held their second meeting on 22 October 2009. The Meeting was chaired by His Excellency Kasit Piromya, Minister of Foreign Affairs. The Meeting was represented by Socio-Cultural Ministers from Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Singapore and Viet Nam with high level representative from Malaysia, Philippines and Indonesia. Dr. Surin Pitsuwan, Secretary-General of ASEAN also attended the Meeting.

Myanmar PM stresses friendship between Myanmar, Thailand
PHETCHABURI, 24 October 2009 (NNT) – Myanmar Prime Minister General Thein Sein has emphasized the mutual coexistence between Thailand and Myanmar during a bilateral session of the 15th ASEAN Summit with Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva on Friday at the Dusit Thani Hotel.

Thailand backs ASEAN as co-host of 2018 FIFA World Cup
Bangkok, 23 October 2009 (NNT) – The Thai Finance Minister said he would back ASEAN as the co-host of 2018 FIFA World Cup. Minister Korn Chatikavanij revealed today that the idea of ASEAN as the co-host of 2018 FIFA World Cup needed to be discussed during the ASEAN Summit.
