Beru

Located in the South Gilbert Islands, 60 km northeast from Onotoa and 96 km east from Tabiteuea, Beru is an unusual atoll formation consisting of single large island that occupies the eastern side of a shallow reef formation. On the western side the surrounding reef widens to enclose the small Nuka lagoon. The island is 14 km in length with a width of 4 km at its widest, covering an area of 16.6 km².
