When Stuntmutt's own One One Se7en strip is actually about corn, then you know you're in for a brain crushing, soul-withering torment from which there is no possible escape. It's like a black singularity of sucking horror, crushing your will to live at the Event Horizon of humor itself. Go see for yourself.

Incredible Needler

Posted by Frankie at 2/21/2006 1:03 PM PST

Some dude has made a Needler. And we have to admit, it's a doozy. Luckily for him, he's selling just the needles (crystals) rather than the Needler itself (which if he sold it, might be legally awkward) and you can go check it out HERE.

It really is a fantastic looking piece of kit, and a testament to the effort and detail our fans put into projects. Go check out this highly illuminating project NOW and remember, he's only selling the "ammo" not the gun itself.

GIANT CHIEF HEAD!

Posted by Frankie at 2/20/2006 9:44 AM PST

It's GIANT CHIEF HEAD TIME! Remember that AUCTION we told you about last week? Our muckers in Australia, are auctioning off the biggest ever Halo 2 promotional item on eBay right now. Ripper!

After transforming the Sydney skyline for more than five months, Master Chief and the massive historic Halo 2 advertisement that took over a Sydney landmark are now up for grabs as Xbox auctions the sign worldwide to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The Ebay auction is live now, so click HERE to snare your piece of gaming history! On the launch of Halo 2, Xbox made advertising history by becoming the first non-Coca Cola Amatil company in 30 years advertising at the iconic Coke site in Kings Cross, Sydney. Divided into just eight exclusive one-off pieces, each piece of the Halo 2 advertisement will be accompanied by a commemorative plaque including a photo of the Halo 2 Coke sign, personally signed by our Bungie team. If you wish to learn more about the King's Cross neighborhood of Sydney, you might want to read the official guide. Make-A-Wish Foundation of Australia creates magic and hope for children with life threatening illnesses by granting their cherished wishes. It does this by recognising the importance for a child to dream, fulfilling wishes only limited by a child’s imagination.

Podtacular, the unofficial Halo 2 podcast, is celebrating it's 50th episode! What's a podcast? It's a free radio show you can play on your computer or iPod. To celebrate this milestone we've beefed up our community with a new clan system and a snazzy new web site. Check it out at www.podtacular.com!

Podtacular has been around a while now, but maybe you missed some of the early action. Now's your chance to get into the hottest Halo community radio show! We discuss tons of Halo-related topics such as Halo news, web resources, Halo 3 wishlists, other games Halo fans play, general tips, a map of the month, custom games, tales from the fox hole, and even listener voice mails. We're really excited about our new community clan system since now Podtacular listeners can choose a recreational clan or a competitive clan to join. It was basically a random list of community sites we love, in no particular order and in no way representative of the total number of sites out there. Anyway, here's a few additions to the lineu

2old2play.com - More ancient gamers with better manners than the whippersnappers. High Impact Halo -Where hardcore Halo tricksters go to trickle. Halo Orbit - They play Halo in Germany! Wo ist die krankenschwester! HaloPlanet - An excellent Halo fansite with a HUGE percentage of vocal forum complainers. ;-) IBO - Stands for IRC.Bungie.Org and is devoted entirely to the business of online chatting about Halo. For those that are active viewers of multiple major Halo websites (such as HBO and RedvsBlue), here's a handy page that will make browsing a lot smoother. It's purpose: to be set as your browser's homepage so you can easily access all of the web's best Halo sites. Instead of fumbling around with favorites and bookmarks, you can simply open your browser and have the backbone of the Halo community at your finger tips. The webring features eight websites which are huge contributors to the halo community including Highimpacthalo.org, Halo.Bungie.org and Mythica.org among others. For your convenience, a link to Google.com is included in the webring... I don't think I need to explain why. With a brilliantly laid out design, the webring permits access to the major websites in the halo community (while keeping track of a number of statistics for your viewing pleasure.) You can check out this webring here

Halopedia Knows

Posted by stosh at 2/14/2006 4:05 PM PST

Dragonclaws writes:

If you're reading this, you obviously know what Halo is, but you can't really know Halo unless you learn it's secrets. You've beat the game on Legendary, but have you found the Scarab Gun? Halopedia can help you to attain not only the famous secrets, but the deepest and darkest of them as well. Read on to know where.

Halopedia can tell you nearly anything you may need to know about Halo. Halopedia is also a wiki, which means it's constantly expanding. It knows everything about the Halo games, books, upcoming movie, and other appearances, and with your help, it can grow even larger. But how can one trust a wiki? Surely some crazy could come in and troll the entire place up. Well... they could, but they wouldn't get too far. Halopedia is guarded by rabid watchdog like fans who are constantly watching the Recent Changes page to check for the slightest error, either grammar or factual. Okay, that's a bit exaggerated. The real deal is that Halopedia is under almost constant watch by someone who can set everything right. With 3 very responsible sysops and a mob of other users, Halopedia is in safe hands. Be sure to check out Halopedia and even you could find something to contribute.

3 Halo novels just not enough for you?

Posted by Recon Number 54 at 2/10/2006 10:48 AM PST

Have you ever wondered why Private Jenkins decided to become a marine? (Hint: It wasn’t to travel the galaxy, meet hot girls and to finally become the host for a hive-mind parasitic organism). It did have something to do with unpaid student loans on 3 colony planets, an enormous XBL bill, and 7 unwed mothers, each with a red-haired young son named “Jenky”.

Or, have you pondered what Tartarus does in his spare time when he is not walloping human-cyborgs with his huge mallet? Extra credit: Did you know that he sometimes refers to that same mallet as his “choochie-woochie?” Of course if you have read the official Halo Bible, you would likely laugh and know that these outrages are not officially part of the Bungie-created Halo universe. You have read the official Halo Bible, haven’t you? Sadly, neither have I nor most of the millions of fellow Halo fans. As you may know, reading the Halo Bible is a privilege reserved for an extreme few who have an explicit and authorized “need to know”. The rest of the world is left to think, theorize, question, ponder, speculate and generally “float and sputter”. So how can these other stories exist? Who would even try to explain these unexplored aspects of the Halo story? That, dear readers, that is where the legion of creative fans and their word processors come into play. Welcome to the confusing and often twisted world of “fan created fiction” or as we in the biz like to call it, “Fan Fics”. The good news (this IS a news article after all) is that people who write, read, or are curious about Fan-Fics based on any Bungie-created story have a place to visit and hang out. The Bungie 7th Column is home to a group commonly referred to as “OFG”. It stands for “Official Fan-Fic Group” and while it is important to understand that fan-fics are NOT official or Bungie-sanctioned in any way, the community seems to have a insatiable appetite for stories related to the Halo universe and characters. This group is a one-stop place to take care of that craving (if you have it). Many of the fan-authors are members and have posted their latest offerings. Readers can visit and read for hours and hours. Aspiring authors can submit and review each other’s work, give and receive advice, insights and further “hone their craft”. Heck, I hear that they might even be having a fan-fic contest, for those of you who are interested in the new and exciting field of "competitive writing". If all of this sounds interesting to you, you can easily visit the group here. Always keep in mind that these are stories written by fans and are NOT part of the “Official Canon”. They are however, a tribute to the creative nature of Bungie fans, to their passion, as well as to Bungie’s ability to create a fertile field where imaginations can roam and in some cases, even soar. Now go. Read. The television PSA's say that it is FUN-demental.

Ode to Rage?

Posted by Frankie at 2/7/2006 4:08 PM PST

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Or worse yet, a woman ignored by her Halo-addicted husband. One such lady managed to channel her rage into poetry however, and a surprisingly touching (and probably all-too-familiar) piece. Go read it at Halo.Bungie.Org and if you're a husband, feel guilty.
