US Policies & Global Health

Sexual and reproductive health: A fundamental human right.

Health is a fundamental human right. The ability to control one’s own fertility is a fundamental human right.

The U.S. should do its part to ensure that people around the world have the information and services they need to determine whether and when to have children, and to protect themselves from sexually transmitted diseases, especially HIV/AIDS.

Each year the U.S. administration and Congress have a choice: we can fund programs that make a real difference for global health, or we can turn our back on the suffering of the rest of the world. There’s no question: women suffer and die when they don’t have access to family planning resources.

The AIDS crisis in Africa has reached such proportions that the future of entire nations is in question.

You can make a difference by learning about the issues, telling your friends, beginning a regular dialogue with your representatives in Congress, and voting!
